Personality number
The personality number in numerology describes how a person is perceived by their environment - i.e. the external image they project to the outside world. It is calculated from the consonants of your full birth name and shows which qualities others perceive in you first.
What is the Personality Number?
The Personality Number—sometimes also called the outer number or consonant number—is one of the central core numbers in numerology. It doesn’t describe who you are on the inside, but rather how you come across to others: What first impression do you make? What qualities do you project before someone really gets to know you?
How is it calculated?
Only the consonants of your full birth name (i.e., the name on your birth certificate) are used for the calculation. Each letter is assigned a numerical value according to the Pythagorean or Chaldean system. The sum is reduced until a single-digit number (1–9) or a master number (11, 22, 33) is obtained.
What does the personality number reveal?
A Personality Number 1, for example, indicates an aura of strength and leadership, while a 6 is often perceived as caring and harmonious. Important: The personality number reflects the façade, not the soul. It can therefore differ significantly from the life number—and it is precisely this tension that is revealing. In name numerology, it is always considered in conjunction with the soul number and the expression number.
Is the personality number different from the life number?
Yes, the life number (also life path number) is based on the date of birth and describes your inner life path. The personality number is based on the consonants of your birth name and shows how you appear to the outside world - in other words, your social image.
Does the personality number change if I change my name?
In many numerological schools, the birth name is considered immutable and forms the basis of all core numbers. However, some practitioners calculate an additional number for the name currently in use in order to gain additional insights.
